Yoga for Autism & Special Needs
Private, personalized sessions for teens, young adults, and individuals of all ages. In person on Long Island. Virtual throughout New York State.
You’re in the right Place
Yoga works. You've probably already seen it, perhaps in a school program, a library class, or a community session. Now you're ready for something more consistent, more personal, and built entirely around you or your family member.
This Is for You If...
You've heard how great yoga can be, and you're ready to find out for yourself
You tried a group class and loved it, and you're ready for something more consistent and personal
You're a teen or young adult ready to build your own practice
You're a parent, caregiver, or support person ready to take the next step
Sensory overload, anxiety, or emotional dysregulation are part of daily life
You're looking for a calm, predictable practice with someone who understands
You or your family member uses AAC, picture exchange, or communicates in their own way…all are welcome here!
What Sessions Look Like
Every session is different because every person is different.
We typically start at 30 minutes and grow from there as comfort and routine build. Some people move to 45 or 60 minutes over time. Others stay at 30 and that's exactly right. There's no timeline to follow and no milestone to hit.
Sessions happen wherever works best:
In your home — Long Island and surrounding Nassau County areas
At the Massapequa studio — a calm, private, minimal space
Virtually via Zoom — nationwide from the comfort of your home
Parents, caregivers, and support staff are always welcome to observe, wait nearby, or participate alongside whatever feels most supportive for your person.
In each session, we work on:
Nervous system regulation — breathwork, poses, and meditation to find calm and return to it
Body awareness — understanding how the body feels, moves, and takes up space
Motor planning — building coordination, sequencing, and physical confidence
Focus and grounding — practical tools for overwhelming moments on and off the mat
Peace and quiet — a consistent space to slow down, breathe, and just be

You're in Good Hands
Lauren's connection to this community is professional, but also personal. She grew up with a younger brother who has autism and is neurodivergent herself. Lauren is someone who loves teaching to this community, but is also part of it.
Since 2020, Lauren has been facilitating a thriving weekly yoga program with the Nassau Suffolk Autism Society, and has been providing private sessions to teens and young adults across Nassau and Suffolk County through OPWDD Self-Direction and self-pay.
She understands that every session looks different. That some days are harder than others, and that real progress is quiet, cumulative, and sometimes invisible until suddenly it isn't.
Her approach is patient, flexible, and grounded in deep respect for each person's unique way of moving through the world. She follows your lead and adapts in real time.
Testimonials
"She sees all of his abilities; his disability a part of him, but not the 'whole' him. She has quickly become one of his favorite people and he has grown in his ability to follow directions and challenge himself — to the point of doing a headstand on his own!"
— Amy, Google Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Parent of a student with ASD
“Virtual yoga with Lauren has become an essential part of Tyler's life and it is fully covered by his self-direction services. Doing yoga with Lauren has made Tyler stim less, increased core, calmness and improved listening skills."
— Tracy C., Google Review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Tyler has been doing virtual yoga with Lauren for over 5 years
